Technology is not always a perfectly good thing. Of course, it pushes society ahead, it fastens time, it implements new features in our everyday life. However, one should remember, that in everything there are always 2 sides – positive and negative. While focusing on positive effects, we tend to forget about negative ones. It’s important to realize the full situation as it is. So let’s check out, which side effects of rapidly developing technology we are consciously or unconsciously facing today.
With the mass spread of mobile devices and social networks, like Facebook, Youtube or Instagram, we have started to live our lives in virtual reality. Some people are having their accounts for more than 10 years! Virtual life tends to replace real life. People spend more time at home or in offices, preferring more to chat online than to talk. Moreover, today modern human is not willing to make calls – he will better use WhatsApp, Viber or another messenger to pass information.
If communication aspect might be significantly altered in future, the digital addiction unfortunately speaks for itself. Today we spend 24 hours using mobile phone, smart watch, smart TV, and tons of similar devices. It is as good as it is actually bad – modern person can get used to technologies and will not be able to solve any problems in case if they disappear. What is more, one can see people walking on the streets and watching in their devices not paying attention to others!
Yes, please don’t forget that technologies are interfering into our work and business as well. Today almost anyone has free access to Internet. It might decrees the company productivity if employees are spending too much time surfing the net of chatting on FB. From a security point of view, not all the companies use strong security programs, so their data can be easily stolen by hackers.
We are really getting spoilt by technologies: ultra-high internet speed (anxiously waiting for 5G!), fast reactions, pages loading within few seconds. We are easy to get irritated and aggressive if something goes wrong. Add to this fact the like addiction, when person is too much focused on one’s FB or IG account. People are becoming less mentally healthy, being nervous because of stupid things.
The most important factor is how technology influences young minds. They were born “with smartphones in their hands” , they can’t imagine modern society without technical features. Today’s children are becoming less emotional, as all emotions are captured in smiles J L And each next generation will be more and more digitalized, if once we will not start thinking how to regulate technologies and their influence.
Well, do you recognize any of these features in yourself? If you feel like it is 100% your portrait, make a digital detox this week! Meet with friends, prepare a picnic or simply go biking. Let all your gadgets rest at home.
